| Wow. I don't even know where to start. So many things have been going on, are going on, and will be going on that if I put down everything, the internet would probably break down! But anyway, I'll try to keep y'all updated as much as possible. So let's see, what has been going on in the past three weeks? Two weeks ago I saw Justin and some others that I know perform in an awesome choral concert. Last week was Spiritual Life Week, so they had a bunch of neat events. Some of the ones I went to included a cookie party, a neat chapel service, battle of the air bands, and a block party. The air band competition was awesome. I fully plan on participating in that next year! The block party was really fun too. I carved my first pumpkin, and bobbed for apples. Sunday night was especially fun. They had an event called "The Scary Side of Mosiman". It was a low-key fun performance type thing held at Mosiman Hall. It was mostly Halloween-themed, and included several musical performances (many of them humorous), funny skits, improv performances (which I got to participate in last minute!), a drag contest (ooh, that was scary!), and a pie-in-the-face auction (we got to bid on pies to throw in professor's faces!). Here's some pics: Getting ready to perform one of the musical pieces...
Hilarious music-themed skits!
Justin displays his music conducting skills Harry Potter style! (ask me to tell the story behind this sometime)
The improv group gets ready to perform...
It's always unpredictable! (I guess that's why they call it improv)
It's not easy to play piano when you have no fingers...
Justin asks his roommate Nate if he'll agree to make him the happiest man on the earth!
The Caterpillar...
Drum Circle!
Drag Contest!
And the winners are...
My English professor gets pied...by her own husband and daughter!
Our campus pastor, Tig got pied twice!
So what's been happening lately? Well I've had tons of homework, and a lot that needs to get caught up on. I have a lot of assignments to do. I also had two out of three of my midterm exams last week. I don't know how I did on the Human Ecology exam , but I got a 95 for First Year Seminar! I'm doing well in all of my classes (FYS seems to be my best and English my worst at the moment). Overall, I'm liking my classes though. I've also really been enjoying all of the spiritual activities that we have every week. There's church on Sunday (I've been going to Justin's and I like it), R Life (our bible study for the girls on 2nd Annex), chapel on Thursday mornings, and Sunday Night Worship (which we have every other week) which is probably my favorite of the four. Along with academics, I have been devoting a good part of my time to our school play which premieres next Thursday! I'm super excited about it. It's a lot of work, but I think its gonna be great! But with all of this busyness, I can't say my social life has been hurt any! I have a great group of friends here at Bluffton. Sometimes I'm amazed by the fact that 8 weeks ago, we were total strangers. We've all grown so close! And of course, I can't leave out my boyfriend! We've now been dating for three and a half weeks, and have been having a great time together. He's a sweetie, even if he is a little crazy!
So, here's what the next two weeks look like (and then I'll shut up, I promise!) Classes and play practice. An essay due in English and a midterm exam in Retail. Tick-or-Treating this weekend. Play performances Nov. 5-8th. Mom and dad come to visit. Hanging out with friends, doing homework, and trying to fit eating and sleeping in there too, And whatever else comes my way! Please pray that i don't get overwhelmed by all of this stuff. It's a lot to do! Thanks for reading this, you must be very patient! Love and miss all of you!
| Yup. As you all should know by now, I have a boyfriend! His name is Justin McCall, and he's super cool. I like him a lot. He's very nice, funny, and cute ("which a young man ought likewise to be, if he possibly can. His character is thereby complete." - Pride and Prejudice). So that's been really fun, along with hanging out hanging out with my other crazy friends. We've had many more adventure over the last couple of weeks. Playing Red Rover and tag at 11:00 in the rain, having "study parties" (more party than study),watching movies, and lots of Ramen! Last week was homecoming. And of course there was a dance! I was really excited about it, cause I had never been to a dance before and Justin asked me to go with him. I was also excited to get all dressed up! As soon as I heard we could dress up a little if we wanted to, I immediately remembered the dress that Jen gave me last year. So when I went home for fall break, I picked that and some silver heels up to bring back. It was fun getting all dolled up. Here's some pics:
LOVE this dress! Thanks Jen!
Fine lookin' ladies!
I know, we're so cute!
You can see why I'm attracted to this guy, can't you?
Thought this was gonna be a nice picture. But at the last second Justin stuck his finger up my nose! Silly boy. I wish I had more pics, but I was kind of dancing the whole time (which was a blast!). But I'm still waiting for a few more pics that my friends need to upload onto Facebook, so we'll see... Anyway, I'm having a terrific time at college! I love it!

| Well it's definitely been a crazy week and a half here at Bluffton U! I'll start with our crazy night we had last Saturday. So me and six of my friends (Sam, Kate, Georgia, Brittany, Jacob, and Jameel) were hanging out in Sam and Kate's dorm room. We were going to watch The Dark Knight. We started to (we ordered a pizza and everything) but got distracted about a third of the way through. We were just having way too much fun talking and being goofy. Then we started playing truth or dare. It was very crazy! Some of the dares included making Georgia go outside and sing I'm a little teapot really loud (at 1:30 in the morning!), and making me lick a window screen for five seconds! So at about 2 or 2:30 in the morning we decided that we were probably being too loud. So we decided to go outside and be loud! We went out, we noticed that it was a really clear and beautiful night. So we decided to go back in, grab some blankets, and lay out on the lawn and star gaze! It was really fun. We were able to see so many stars, and we had such a good time just talking and laughing. We weren't tired at all!
The funny part of the night was when all the sudden (keep in mind that it was almost pitch dark out here), we get blinded my this bright beam of light! Sam and I screamed! It turned out to be a flashlight of a campus security guard! He was like "So what are you kids doing out here so late?" We were just like "Um....just stargazing!" After we convinced him that we really were star gazing, he was cool. He said that he just wanted to make sure that we weren't drinking or participating in any "inappropriate activities". Apparently he had caught some other kids on the same lawn doing just that. But we said "No, we're just star gazing, honest!" So then he just talked to us for a little while (about his Harley!) and then left. So after hanging out for a little bit more, and taking some crazy pictures:
We decided to go to Wal-Mart (at 3:30 in the morning!). So the only person who had a car was Jameel. And he had a car that could probably only fit about five people in it, and we crammed seven of us in there! The nearest Wal-Mart is about 20 minutes away, so for 20 minutes we drove like that! I'm surprised we never got pulled over. But going to Wal-Mart was actually a good idea because we all really needed some groceries. So then we bought our stuff, crammed back into the car, and drove back to Bluffton. We got back at about 5:00 in the morning! Now the bad thing about all of this was I think that's the reason I ended up getting a cold! Sunday, I woke up feeling very tired and very weird in the throat area. By Monday, I had the worst cold you could ever get. It was really horrible. I ended up not going to two of my classes because I felt so bad. But apparently, everyone was getting it (I guess it was going around). So all of last week, i felt like absolute crap. I have just started feeling better. I think my cold is almost gone, but it's still hanging on. So since I felt sick this weekend, I put off my homework till the last possible second. In other words: 1:00 AM Monday morning! So I was up until 6 AM doing homework. Now, I set my alarm for 8:45. But according to my roommate, when it went off, I got up walked across the room, turned it off, walked back, got in my bed, and went back to sleep. But the weird part is I don't remember any of that happening! So I ended up missing my first two classes, lunch, and was 15 minutes late for my last class! As if my day couldn't get any worse, I came back to my room to discover I had spilled water on my desk and my laptop was sitting in a puddle of water! I didn't even notice it until my mouse stooped working! So of course the first thing I did was call David! He told me to let it air dry overnight and that it would probably be fine. So i did that, and now it's fin! Yay! Thanks David! So now life is mostly back to normal. Except I did the alarm clock thing a gain today and was 30 minutes late for my class (which is weird cause I got plenty of sleep). So I'm planning on setting TWO alarms tomorrow! Okay, now that I've written you a book the size of the Bible.... I'm off to do some more homework and stuff. Ta ta for now!

| Wow! I can't believe it's almost been a week already! Well even after 5 days, I have to say that I love college! I'm having a blast, and I'm so glad I chose to go to Bluffton. Move in day was crazy. It started at 9:00 and lasted through most of the afternoon. Katelyn and i had a fun time setting up our room (which if you haven't seen by now, is on Facebook). We're pretty similar in personalty, so we get along very well. I've made a lot of other really cool friends too. There was a picnic on move-in day as well. Then they had the Presidents welcome and the *sniff* *sniff* farewell to families.... Later we had one our six welcome group sessions. It was basically a thing for us to get to know each other. They were fun at first, but we got sick of them quickly! Then we had a welcome dinner (served family style!). that was a really good opportunity to meet some people. Then we had a Residence floor meeting. After that, we had "Community 101". This was where some of the faculty and students told us about Bluffton and it's....community! It was fun. So throughout the week, we've had a lot of events such as chapel, dancing in the streets, an ice cream social, meeting the author to our summer reading book, a trip to the Bluffton Dairy Freeze (or the Whippy Dip, as they call it! ), and Bluffton bingo! We have even more events coming up such as Dutch Blitz 101 (have you ever played this Sara or Marie? Apparently it's a mennonite card game), celebration at the cabin, thursday morning chapel, ultimate frisbee, shaving cream whiffle ball, faculty and staff follies, a football game (go Beavers!), and a welcome back festival. So yeah, fun stuff! I guess our want to know the boring stuff too. You know, the reason why I'm here, classes! Well lets see...on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I have College English, First Year Seminar, and Fashion 1. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I have Retail Merchandising and Design class and Human Ecology. I love my English class! It's really cool, and my professor is just awesome! Fashion and RMAD i also love. They're definitely my favorite. I LOVE my professor, she is just so cool. Those classes look like they're gonna be really fun! First Year Seminar is okay. I don't hate it, but it's not my absolute favorite. Human Ecology I HATE. I really, really hate it. The bad news is I can't drop it cause it's required. The good news is, I only have it for one semester. But I hate it. Just to let you know. Okay, i feel better now... So yeah, that's been my first week (or five days) in a very large nutshell! I've been having tons of fun, and can't wait to tell you more exciting stuff that's happening here! Love y'all! | | |
